Welcome to our home!
Allow us to introduce ourselves.….
I am Ally and my Husband is Jason. We moved to Deveron Valley Cottages from South Wales in June 2019.
It’s such a big learning curve and a complete change from our previous lives in Wales. I worked in a call centre for a bank and Jason was a master blacksmith. Although we lived in the Brecon Beacons National Park in the Swansea Valley surrounded by the beautiful Welsh countryside, we decided to opt for even more rural surroundings and Scotland seemed like a good idea. So we brought our dogs along and we are really enjoying life. In between looking after our guests, we like arts and crafts, you will either find us in the shed, in the garden, or out in the sunshine riding our motorbikes along the gorgeous coastal roads.
In August 2022 we took over Marnoch Lodge Fisheries and Holiday Cottages. Our aim is to not only develop and expand the accommodation/facilities but also sympathetically improve the land, riverbanks and fishing. We strive to do this not only for our guests today but for all of the local ecosystem and generations to come.
Deveron Valley Cottages and Marnoch Fisheries are linked by a short pretty walk along the River Deveron, work is continuing on the cottages at Marnoch and we hope to have availabilty later in 2024.
Fishing is available to book throughout the season – Book Fishing – Fish the Deveron
Our Moray Firth coastline with its famous dolphins is host to a selection of arguably the most beautiful villages in the country… Portsoy and Cullen to name but a few. They are also home to what has to be (in our opinion) the best ice-cream shop and fish and chips in the North East!
The area is also well known for its Castle and Whisky Trails, a variety of country sports and the hauntingly beautiful Cabrach region, with skiing less than an hour’s drive. If you are a driving/riding fan we can recommend the fantastic scenery along the coastal roads from Inverness to Aberdeen
Deveron Valley Cottages have three beautifully situated Cottages and two picturesque Log Cabins. We are on the edge of the Grampian Hills, less than one hour from Aberdeen Airport,. Our standards are amongst the best in Aberdeenshire.
Big events in the area include Fochabers Speyfest, Dufftown Whisky Festivals, Portsoy Boat Festival, Turriff Show, and various local highland games.
We hope you enjoy staying here as much as we love living here !
